Jan-Peter Muller received a B.Sc. degree in Physics with honours from Sheffield University in 1976, an M.Sc. in Atmospheric Physics and Dynamics from Imperial College London in 1977 and a Ph.D. in Planetary Meteorology from University College London in 1982. He is currently a professor and head of the Imaging group at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory in the Department of Space and Climate Physics at University College London, UK. Dr. Muller is a member of the MISR and MODIS science teams on EOS and a Co-Investigator on the European HRSC and PanCam instruments. His research interests include imaging sensor technology development for comparative planetology and exploration, the development and application of automated image understanding algorithms and systems to global climate change monitoring from space, understanding solar-planetary interactions on climate and weather, improvements to the representation of radiative transfer, understanding the role of anthropogenic influences on climate change and retrieval of three-dimensionality of land surfaces, continental shelf bathymetry, and aerosol and cloud fields.
