MISR is On!

12 noon, 21 December 1999 We have another exciting day going! In the most recent TDRSS contact, the MISR instrument was powered on, with a successful start on the first try. Telemetry is flowing, and instrument currents look good. The next major events scheduled are unlatch of the cover at 12:36 PM PST, and unlatch of the calibration panels at 2:14 PM PST. The local team can hear communication between the MISR Instrument Operations Team and the EOS Operations Center over the SCAMA line in the Ops Room or the SCF in building 169. I do not have details on the High Gain Antenna problem diagnosis at this time, but earlier this morning I learned that the HGA is once again moving in both elevation and azimuth and back to normal programmed tracking.
